wellbeing retreatswith a difference, making a difference

Triple Eight* Retreats is a partnership between Ezelle Theunissen
and Chi-wah Chan, who have been crafting bespoke retreats for
groups from 6 to 600 participants, worldwide, for the last decade.

Triple 8 Meaning

What makes our retreats different is that our work is values-based:
our core values of Connection, Consciousness and Care are
expressed in why we do what we do. We are passionate about
bringing individuals, teams and organisations in alignment with
their own values.

We recognise that all life on earth is interconnected and that the calls to justice – be they economic, social or environmental – are inextricably interconnected. We thrive working with people who champion justice, and we aim to strengthen the connection between various causes, people and ideas. Our retreats promote the coherent connection between what we stand for and how we live – both personally and professionally.

Being in alignment with our personal and professional values requires ever-increasing consciousness and presence. It requires the discipline to practice mindfulness and accountability – recognising and breaking negative habitual patterns and cultivating healthy habits instead.

Double 8 Meaning

Staff retreats are often rushed, mirroring the team or organisation's status quo, and this is counterproductive. Our retreats create the
necessary space to become aware of work and lifestyle habits, their impacts on our natural, mental and social environments,
and time and energy to recognise and appreciate our deeper calling. We recognise that consciousness is an embodied experience, and promote a holistic, integrative approach to wellbeing.

When we reconnect with ourselves, others and our environment – and become increasingly conscious of our values and needs – we
may become aware of how these contradict or compete with each others'. Therefore we embark on this path towards well-being
with care, and value diversity, inclusion, belonging, and caring for all.

One of the ways we demonstrate this is by customising your retreat experience through planning, co-designing and prototyping what will work best for your group, in collaboration with a small representative sample of your larger team. This model of inclusive retreat planning has far-reaching effects, promoting a vital organisational culture.

Triple 8 Hosting

We care about decarbonising our work - and your retreat - as much as possible.

We offer optional ongoing coaching for individuals who care about their personal and professional development beyond the retreat.

We contribute a percentage of our earnings to local organisations promoting environmental justice.

earth carestaff retreat

Until very recently, an unspoken myth in the world of activism has been that social justice has little to do with environmental justice and vice versa. Our mission is to awaken and strengthen a holistic appreciation of sustainability within organisations, and highlight the interconnectedness of healthy people, resources and the natural environment. By aligning individual and organisational values, we promote coherence between who we say we are, and the impact we're having in the world.

This is an all-staff retreat focusing on the organisation's values regarding the wellbeing of its people and its environmental impact. The scope of this impact (from internal day-to-day operations to long-term strategy including external partners) and intended outcomes of the retreat are customised through collaborative advance planning with a hub (a representative team of the whole organisation). Whole systems methodologies, such as Appreciative Inquiry, Open Space Technology, Café Conversations and Community Building, are used to facilitate the (re)defining of the organisation's values, aligning these with a broader “Earth Care” agenda, and arriving at tangible actionable outcomes. Locations and vendors are selected carefully to ensure alignment with these objectives and enhance the overall experience.

Team building with a difference!

Come and learn about embodied mindfulness, movement and making a difference through everything from our small day-to-day consumer choices to how we interact with our immediate and broader environment. This retreat has everything: edutainment, fun, relaxation and an overall feel-good outcome for the team and its members.

As an option, we can customise your experience in collaborative design and planning with a hub (representative sample of the whole team) in advance of the retreat to ensure the experience is as inclusive as possible.
